In Depth

Each Benefit, Explained

Professional Expertise

The person working on your watch has spent years learning how movements behave — under different conditions, at different ages, with different degrees of wear. That background matters when the service isn't straightforward.

We've handled Swiss mechanical calibres, Japanese quartz movements, and vintage pieces from manufacturers that no longer exist. Each presents its own reading. Knowing what's normal and what isn't, for a given type of watch, is what makes assessment useful rather than guesswork.

  • Over 15 years of hands-on movement experience
  • Swiss, Japanese, and vintage calibre familiarity
  • Honest assessment of what's viable and what isn't
  • Referral to appropriate specialists for rare complications
  • Ultrasonic cleaning for movement components
  • Movement-grade lubricants matched to calibre type
  • Timegrapher accuracy verification after regulation
  • Loupe and microscope inspection for fine components

Tools & Methods

The studio is equipped for careful work, not volume. We use ultrasonic cleaning for movement parts, calibre-appropriate lubricants, and a timegrapher to verify accuracy after regulation. These aren't unusual tools — but using them attentively, on each piece individually, makes the difference.

We don't rush steps that shouldn't be rushed. Lubrication, in particular, is done with care: the wrong oil in the wrong place shortens the service interval of a movement significantly. We take time to do it properly.

A Calm Service Experience

Bringing a watch in — particularly one that carries sentimental weight — can feel like a slightly anxious thing to do. We try to make the handover straightforward. You explain the watch, we look at it, we explain what we see, and we tell you what would be reasonable to do next.

There's no upselling. If a battery change is all that's needed, that's all we'll suggest. If a full overhaul is overdue, we'll explain why — and let you decide in your own time.

  • No-charge initial assessment at handover
  • Plain-language explanation of findings
  • No pressure to proceed with any particular service
  • Updates during longer services so you're never left waiting
  • Service fees stated before any work begins
  • No extra charges without prior discussion
  • Pricing reflects the level of care delivered
  • A documented service extends the watch's useful life

Transparent Pricing

The three services at Tikkora have clear, published prices: RM 560, RM 2,280, and RM 4,390. These are what you pay unless something unusual is found during the service — in which case we discuss it before proceeding.

A well-serviced watch lasts longer and runs better. That has real value over time. We think about pricing in that context: not the cheapest option, but one that reflects care delivered and extends the life of the piece.

What Makes Us Different

Distinctly Tikkora

Every Service Has a Paper Trail

We issue a written summary after each visit — not a receipt, but a service record. It documents what the watch was, what condition it arrived in, what was done, and in some cases the accuracy result. You keep a copy. It's useful for future owners and insurance.

Collector Restoration as a Managed Process

The Collector's Restoration Programme isn't a single event — it's a planned series of stages, coordinated between our bench, specialist refinishers when needed, and the owner. Progress is communicated at each stage, not just at collection.

We'll Tell You When We're Not the Right Fit

Some watches need a marque specialist. Some complications are outside what we should attempt. We'd rather tell you honestly and point you somewhere appropriate than take on a watch we can't serve at the level it deserves.

A Studio, Not a Shop Counter

When you visit Tikkora, you're in the same space as the work. There's no opaque back room. We can show you what we've found, point to what concerns us, and explain it at the bench. That kind of transparency isn't standard — for us it's simply how the conversation should go.
