Brought in my late father's Seiko 5 — it hadn't been worn in about twelve years. I wasn't sure whether it was worth servicing or just a sentimental object. Razwan spent a good fifteen minutes looking it over with me, explained what he found, and gave me a clear picture of what the overhaul would involve. The watch now runs well, and I have a written record of the service. That mattered to me more than I expected.

Had a battery replaced and a new strap fitted on my everyday quartz watch. Quick to organise, done within two days, and the service note they gave me was a nice touch — I'd never received documentation for something so routine before. The price was fair for what was done. I'll bring the other two in next time.

I collect vintage Swiss pieces — mostly post-war pieces that turn up at local auctions — and finding a watchmaker in KL who handles them carefully and communicates well has been genuinely difficult. Tikkora is different. Amir keeps me updated, Razwan explains the movement condition in a way that respects that I already know a bit about watches, and the restorations come back documented. I've had three pieces done here now.

My Tissot had been running fast by about four minutes a day. I'd had it looked at elsewhere and they'd just adjusted the regulator without properly servicing it — same problem returned after six weeks. Tikkora did a proper overhaul, and when I collected it the service note included the accuracy reading after regulation. Three months on, it's still within the normal variance. Worth doing properly.

I came in with a ladies' watch from the 1970s that belonged to my grandmother. I was nervous about it. Nurul was very patient with me — explained what they would and wouldn't do to preserve the original dial, and made clear that the goal was conservation rather than making it look new. The result was exactly right. It looks like a cared-for vintage piece, not a restored one. My mother cried when she saw it.

Straightforward experience. I dropped in without an appointment on a Wednesday morning, the watch was assessed within ten minutes, and I was told clearly what was needed and what it would cost. No upselling. Collected it four days later. The strap they suggested was the right call — better fit than the original. Will return when the movement is next due for servicing.

In Detail

Three Pieces, Three Stories

A fuller account of three different service journeys — each representing a different type of work we carry out.

Battery, Seal & Strap Refresh

A Daily Quartz — Stopped After 4 Years

The Situation

A Bangsar client's Casio quartz — worn daily for four years — had stopped completely. The case had surface marks and the rubber strap had become stiff. He wasn't sure whether it was worth a visit or just time for a replacement.

What Was Done

Battery replaced with a matched-spec cell. Seals checked and found serviceable. Case cleaned. Original rubber strap replaced with a leather alternative the client chose from the studio selection.

The Outcome

Watch returned in two days with a written service note. The client has been wearing it daily since. "I wasn't expecting to care this much about a RM200 watch," he told us. "But the strap made it feel new."

Turnaround

2 working days  ·  Service fee: RM 560

Complete Movement Overhaul

An Automatic Piece, 8 Years Between Services

The Situation

A Petaling Jaya collector brought in an Orient automatic that had been losing three to four minutes per day. It had last been serviced eight years prior. Movement visible through the caseback appeared dusty.

What Was Done

Full movement teardown. Ultrasonic cleaning of all components. Worn cannon pinion identified and sourced — client contacted before proceeding. Reassembly, lubrication, and regulation over three positions.

The Outcome

Watch returned with a written condition report and accuracy note showing +5s/day after regulation. Client noted: "It's the first time I've had a written record. I'll keep it with the watch."

Turnaround

3 weeks (including part sourcing)  ·  Service fee: RM 2,280 + part

Collector's Restoration Programme

A 1968 Swiss Dress Watch — Family Heirloom

The Situation

A 1968 Swiss dress watch brought in by a client whose father had bought it new in Geneva. Non-running, case badly scratched, crown missing. Client wanted to wear it at her daughter's wedding — then pass it on.

What Was Done

Movement fully overhauled. Original-spec crown sourced from a parts supplier in Switzerland. Case light-polished (preserving hallmarks). Dial cleaned conservatively — not restored — to retain its aged character. Client updated at each stage.

The Outcome

Watch returned eight weeks later with a multi-page restoration record. It was worn at the wedding. "It kept perfect time," the client wrote to us afterwards. "My daughter knows exactly what the watch is, where it came from, and what was done to it."

Duration

8 weeks across staged restoration  ·  Programme fee: RM 4,390
