Our Story

A Studio That Listens Before It Works

Tikkora was founded on one idea: that a watch in need of care deserves patience, not speed.

Who We Are

Tikkora — Bangsar's Watchcare Studio

Tikkora opened in Bangsar with a straightforward purpose: to give watch owners in Kuala Lumpur access to careful, well-explained watch servicing. The name is a quiet nod to the sound of a well-regulated movement — that steady, unhurried tick that tells you everything is as it should be.

From the outset, we decided to keep the studio small and the service personal. We don't take on more work than we can do well. Each piece that comes through our door is handled by someone who understands its mechanics and respects its history.

Over the years, we've built a quiet reputation among Kuala Lumpur's watch owners — people who own daily wearers that need routine care, and collectors who hold onto pieces with decades of sentiment. Both groups deserve the same level of attention, and that's what we aim to give.

Our Mission

To provide watch owners with honest assessments, careful craftsmanship, and a clear record of every service — without pressure and without shortcuts.

Our Approach

We look before we recommend. Every watch is assessed on its own terms, and we explain what we find before asking you to decide on any work.

Our Promise

No work proceeds without your knowledge. No charge is added without discussion. Your watch is returned in documented, better condition — or we tell you honestly why it wasn't possible.

How We Work

Standards We Hold To

These aren't policies we follow reluctantly — they're simply how we believe watch care should be done.

Assessment Before Action

Every watch is examined before any service is proposed. We don't start work on assumptions — we look, note what we find, and explain it to you first.

Quality Lubricants & Parts

We use movement-grade lubricants appropriate to each calibre type. Replacement parts are sourced carefully, with original-spec components used wherever possible.

Secure In-Studio Storage

Watches left in our care are stored in a monitored, locked cabinet. We do not subcontract work or allow watches to leave the studio without your knowledge.

Written Service Records

Every service generates a written summary — what was received, what was done, and the outcome. You keep a copy. We keep a copy. The record belongs to you.

Post-Service Accuracy Check

After movement overhauls, we run an accuracy check and note the result. If regulation is needed, we complete it before returning the watch.

Client Privacy

We handle your personal details and service records with care. Client information is not shared with third parties and is retained only as long as needed for your service history.

Our Background

Watch Servicing With Consideration

Tikkora occupies a modest studio space on Lorong Maarof in Bangsar — a neighbourhood that suits us. It's a place where people take their time, and so do we. The studio is arranged to allow careful work without distraction: clean benches, good light, and the right tools for the job at hand.

The watches we see span a wide range. Daily quartz pieces in need of a battery change and a clean. Inherited automatics that have sat unworn for years and need a proper teardown. Antique timepieces where the case has softened and the dial has aged and the owner wants to preserve rather than alter. Each presents a different kind of challenge and a different kind of conversation.

What draws people back to Tikkora, from what they tell us, is the absence of pressure. There's no push to spend more than is needed. If a watch only needs a battery and a strap, that's what we say. If a full overhaul would be wasted on a movement that's worn beyond practical service, we say that too. Honesty about the state of a watch is more useful than a long invoice.

We also think carefully about what we take on. A well-executed modest service is worth more to us, and to you, than a rushed attempt at something beyond our current scope. For rare complications or highly specialised calibres, we'll tell you if a specialist elsewhere would serve you better — and point you in a direction we'd trust.
